Informasi Penyakit Sopak (Vitiligo)

Sopak atau Vitiligo merupakan masalah pigmentasi di mana sel-sel yang menghasilkan pigmen yang dipanggil melanosit di kulit, membran mukosa (tisu-tisu yang meliputi bahagian dalam mulut atau hidung atau di kawasan-kawasan genital dan rektal dan retina ataua lapisan dalam mata) dimusnahkan.

Ini akan menghasilkan tompok-tompok putih di beberapa bahagian badan. Rerambut atau bulu-bulu yang tumbuh di kawasan terbabit juga akan turut bertukar menjadi putih.

Punca sebenar Sopak atau Vitiligo sampai sekarang masih belum diketahui secara sahih.

Para doktor dan penyelidik masih terus mengesan punca atau asal-usul penyakit ini. Mereka ini telah menyimpulkan hasil kajian dan penyelidikan mereka kepada beberapa teori tersendiri.

Antaranya:

1.Penghasilan antibodi yang menyerang melanosit di badan pesakit itu sendiri.

2.Kemusnahan melanosit dengan sendiri atau mati beragam.

3.Ada juga kajian menunjukkan sesetengah kejadian seperti terkena pancaran cahaya matahari berlebihan (sunburn).

4.Ada juga mengatakan kerana tekanan emosi boleh menyebabkan Sopak atau Vitiligo ini.

Yang pasti kebanyakan pengidap Sopak atau Vitiligo ada kaitan dengan kelenjar tiroid. Sejauh mana kepastian hanya yang arif dan pakar sahaja dapat menjawabnya.

Epidemiologinya, dianggarkan satu hingga dua peratus penduduk dunia (40 atau 50 juta orang) menghidapi Sopak atau Vitiligo. Dan 95 peratus penghidap vitiligo bermula di umur mencecah 40-an. Apapun Sopak atau Vitiligo menyerang tanpa mengira kaum atau jantina. Kajian menunjukkan penyakit ini lebih kepada mereka yang menghidapi penyakit autoimun atau penyakit di mana daya ketahanan seseorang individu bertindak ke atas tisu dan organnya sendiri.

Ketandaan Sopak atau Vitiligo pada peringkat awalnya kehadiran tompok-tompok putih pada kulit di bahagia tertentu. Tompok ini selalunya berlaku di kawasan terdedah pada cahaya matahari. Kebiasaannya bermula di bahagian tangan, kaki, lengan, muka, bibir, ketiak, di sekeliling mata, dan ada yang merebak ke bahagian organ seks. Namun begitu belum ada sesiapa yang dapat meramalkan Sopak atau Vitiligo ini boleh merebak secara mendadak atau perlahan.

Rawatan Sopak atau Vitiligo sampai sekarang belum ada termaktub satu teknik atau formula yang betul-betul berkesan. Rawatan yang sedia ada mengambil masa yang lama.
